Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts gave the media the stunning truth on his interception against the Giants late in the second half of their 34-17 loss in Week 6. In true Hurts fashion it was exactly what the media has expected from him over the past several years.

“Bad ball.”

Another execution issue for Hurts and the Eagles’ offense

Two words, to go along with the two losses the Eagles now have on their record through six weeks of the 2025 season. Despite Hurts’ “Bad Ball,” the interception by far isn’t the only play that made the difference in the Eagles’ loss to the Giants.

After watching the play several times and in live time, Hurts looked to throw a quick out on a three-step drop out of “duo” (tight end on the line boundary side, with doubles to the field) out of 11 personnel (one running back, one tight end, three receivers). Hurts’ pass was slightly to the inside of the shoulder of Dotson; however, per the film, it does look like that Dotson’s route tailed off at the end was completely flat at the top of the route.

While the Giants did bring pressure on the play, Hurts did miss A.J. Brown in the slot with inside leverage against man coverage that could have resulted in a touchdown. While the Eagles were currently down by 10 with 11:25 left, the interception return by Cor’Dale Flott did set up Cam Skattebo for his third rushing touchdown of the night, essentially putting the game out of reach.

The interception was only a microcosm of the offensive woes with Hurts at the helm during Thursday night’s upset. Hurts missed DeVonta Smith on a deep ball that was out of Smith’s reach, which also took points off the board. Hurts commented on that as well.

“I didn’t give him a good ball.”

Despite Hurts taking responsibility for his missteps and shortcomings, as he would say, the Eagles didn’t do enough to accomplish the “main thing”. Philadelphia has little time to figure it out as the team takes on the Carson Wentz-led Vikings in Week 7 for their week seven matchup.
