Nick Sirianni Just Broke His Silence on Kevin Patullo—and It Says Everything About the Eagles’ Offense.QQ

An airhorn wouldn’t be able to make the kind of noise Philadelphia Eagles fans are making right now when it comes to how offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is doing.

Patullo has put together two bad performances with his offense, with back-to-back 17-point performances and two consecutive losses within four days of each other. That has included only seven points total in the second half between the Denver Broncos and New York Giants last week.
The problems really started to become abundantly apparent in the 34-17 loss to the New York Giants, with yet another bad second half, but different this time around. They scored zero points and had two turnovers on the final two offensive drives of the game.
Now sitting at 4-2, there are way more questions than answers, and plenty of people are calling for Patullo’s job as offensive coordinator. His head coach, Nick Sirianni, isn’t ready to pull the plug quite yet.
Sirianni defends his offensive coordinator with the media
Back from the mini bye week, Sirianni faced the media to explain what the Eagles had done to improve the offense. Sirianni was asked about his confidence level with Patullo running the offense.
“In this sport, it’s never on one person. We’re not in the business of assigning blame; we find solutions. This week, it was a little everything. We live in a world where we want to assign blame and point fingers, but that’s not reality of what good teams do. I have all the confidence in Kevin and this offensive staff.”
Another question was asked as to whether he would be making a change as the primary play caller on offense. Sirianni was short and firm in his response.
“No.”
This Eagles offense has ranked 30th in total offense, averaging 274.5 yards per game. Their passing offense and rushing offense have been ranked near the bottom of the NFL as well.
Nothing appears to have gone right with the offense, dealing with the A.J. Brown drama to inconsistencies in the second half. Patullo has struggled to get into a rhythm with his play calling and has been criticized for giving up on running the football too soon.
It’s part of the growing pains of being a new play caller, but something on this offense has to change if the Eagles want any shot of turning this around before it goes too far off the rails.
