Observations

  • With Jawaan Taylor doubtful for the Week 14 game, Andy Reid previously indicated that Wanya Morris will get the start at left tackle in place of Josh Simmons, with Jaylon Moore getting the start in place of Taylor at right tackle. On Friday, he insisted that they’ve practiced at both spots, adding some element of gamesmanship to his comments.
  • Trey Smith is also listed as doubtful. His continued injury absence will put Mike Caliendo in line for his second consecutive start at right guard. In my decade covering the Chiefs, I can’t recall a player listed as doubtful playing in the upcoming game. Expect Taylor and Smith to be ruled out by Sunday.
  • With Chris Roland-Wallace slated to miss another week, the Chiefs will be shorthanded at safety again. Expect Mike Edwards to be elevated from the practice squad for a second consecutive week for Kansas City.
  • Nikko Remigio is a bit of a surprise after being a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday. This should open the door for rookie WR Jalen Royals to be active after a stretch of games as a healthy scratch.

Observations

  • The Texans will be without DT Tim Settle Jr., who is no longer listed on the injury report after landing on injured reserve on Thursday.
  • With Kamari Lassiter ruled questionable for the game, former Chiefs draft pick Tremon Smith is slated to start opposite Derek Stingley Jr. at outside cornerback.
