Elisabeth Hasselbeck breaks down in raw emotion as she finally responds to Rosie O’Donnell’s shocking remarks.NH

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who appeared as a co-host on ABC’s The View from 2003 to 2013, is fighting back after Rosie O’Donnell claimed that the former colleagues’ 2007 on-air fight was a “setup.”

In a series of emotional Instagram Stories, Hasselbeck, 48, who went on to become a Fox News commentator after her time on The View, spoke candidly about her relationship with O’Donnell and the incident, saying that her former colleague is someone who “wants to spread lies and hate.”

Shared on her Instagram Stories while standing in her kitchen, Hasselbeck got visibly emotional as she explained the downfall of her relationship with O’Donnell after their on-air fight, which utilized a split screen to show the two co-hosts fighting about the Iraq War.

“I love my friends who disagree with me. I tried to call you many times and reach out to you after that, Rosie, and you don’t want to repair,” Hasselbeck said. “I have to go here because you won’t respond. If you want to get together and talk, let’s do it, come over and swim in my pool, come take a couple laps, come back to America and enjoy your nation. We can have open, free dialogues about what we disagree on. I’ll make you dinner. What do you want to stop the bullying?”

In contrast to her relationships with other former and current co-hosts of the show, Hasselbeck said her relationship with O’Donnell was an unhealthy one.

“We love each other in a healthy way, and there is a manipulation that I felt was very real with Rosie, and she can create whatever reality she wants. We all see it, we all know it. Honestly, I love you, Rosie,” said Hasselbeck. “God has good plans for you, he sees you, he made you, and I really hope that you can be released from whatever this is that’s causing you to cause such harm and just be free to be creative and loved and awesome because that’s who he made you to be.”

O’Donnell’s Original Statements

O’Donnell’s statements that reignited the feud started during her appearance on the Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel podcast.

“I cannot believe that this woman, after all I did for her… here she was on national TV coming at me about whether or not I was patriotic,” O’Donnell said. “That whole thing, I think, was a setup.”

Hasselbeck’s Relationship with Goldberg

Hasselbeck praised the current show co-host, Whoopi Goldberg.

“We love each other. I just texted her last week and thanked her for being a friend who doesn’t want me to think how she thinks, and I don’t require her to think how I think,” she said. “This requires two sane people who have good hearts, who have different opinions, agreeing that we are God’s people and we’re just going to love each other through our opinions and let them be different without punishing the other person. This is possible. It’s not possible with someone like Rosie O’Donnell, who time and time again wants to spread lies and hate.”

Hasselbeck went on to beg O’Donnell to “stop,” but noted that she “still forgives” her.

“It can just be so much more free, Rosie, if you can just stop. Stop the madness, stop the lying, and just be free. I just pray that God’s fire and glory surround you so you can be protected from whatever is holding you back. I pray the lies that are held over you are released,” she stated.

Hasselbeck concluded by advising her viewers to tell someone if they are being bullied and to speak the truth.
