Ahead of the Denver Broncos’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5, we asked Glenn Erby of Eagles Wire five questions about Philly’s squad and Sunday’s game. Check out our questions and Erby’s answers below.
Is it concerning the fact that AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts have been missing each other so far this season?
The lack of synergy between Hurts and Brown is very concerning, but it’s something they’ve been forced to work through before. The Eagles’ offensive line hasn’t been as healthy or dominant through the first four games, while teams have played far less man coverage, choosing to force Hurts to make accurate and precise throws against zone coverage. It’s a problem, but one that Kevin Patullo has to examine, while all three levels have to be more efficient and in sync.
Former Bronco running back Audric Estime signed with the Eagles after being cut in August. Do you think Estime could break into the rotation at some point?
Estime is a talented player, but the Eagles are currently content with the trio of Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, and AJ Dillon. Estime is the victim of a numbers game, and even in the matchup Shipley missed, Philadelphia went with two running backs and elevated a fullback. A potential injury to tight end/fullback Cameron Latu could open the door for Estime to be elevated from the practice squad.
Vic Fangio finally won a Super Bowl last year as defensive coordinator for the Eagles. Do you think this game means *that* much more to Fangio, going against a team he coached for several years?
Fangio is one of the most respected defensive minds in football, and I believe that Sunday’s matchup presents the former Broncos head coach with an opportunity to prove a point, while unleashing his full defensive arsenal on Bo Nix and the Denver offense. The Broncos have been exceptionally elite on defense at times, and Fangio will be looking to demonstrate that his system is the primary reason for their continued success.
The big debate right now is about the Tush Push, a play Philly has run to perfection to their credit. A ban on the play was proposed in 2025, but was lost in the league meetings. Do you think we’ll see a ban on the play in 2026?
There have been reports that the topic may not be addressed at the spring meetings in 2026 and beyond. Philadelphia didn’t run the play in Week 4, and as long as no player is seriously injured in the scrum, the Tush Push should be safe.
Final score prediction and why?
This game will be played in Philadelphia, and it comes at a time when the Eagles’ offense is lacking a true identity and in need of another breakout performance from DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. Denver dominated Cincinnati in Week 4, but the Eagles are not the same defensively as the Bengals, and Vic Fangio will have an answer for everything Sean Payton brings offensively. With Quinyon Mitchell likely to travel with Courtland Sutton, Kelee Ringo’s matchups with Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin could determine the outcome. The Eagles need the win, and A.J. Brown gets the ball in a 31-21 win.
