Maya Rudolph and Seth Meyers Just Drew a Line for Their Kids This Halloween — and Every Parent Will Relate.NH

Seth Meyers and Maya Rudolph will not allow their children to break this one rule for Halloween.
During the Bridesmaids actress’, 53, appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, she and the comedian, 51, agreed on one simple rule they’ll be enforcing with their children: not allowing them to have multiple costumes.
“Halloween, big time for a parent who has four children,” the late-night host said to Rudolph, who agreed, responding, “As you know, with multiple childs, as well.”
Meyers then began sharing one of his major grievances with Halloween. “I have multiple childs, there’s also, like, multiple Halloween festivities,” he said.
“I was gonna say at certain ages, it was like, ‘Hey, let’s all trick-or-treat together as a family,’ ” the Loot star said, dropping her voice an octave before saying, “And now, it’s like, ‘I’ve got to go to this party.'”
Meyers added on, listing the different types of Halloween parties his children get invited to.
“But also, there’s, like, a school party, then there’s, like, Halloween proper, and … my kids are like, ‘I want to be a baseball catcher for one, and then a ninja,’ [and] I’m like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa!’ ” he said.
In response, Rudolph nodded her head knowingly, saying, “Yeah. Multiple costumes.”
“We’re rolling the one all the way through it,” Meyers added.
“This isn’t the Oscars, honey,” the actress continued. “We’re not changing for the after party!”
The Saturday Night Live alum and his wife, Alexi Ashe, tied the knot in September 2013. The couple welcomed their first child together, son Ashe Olson, three years later. In 2018, the pair expanded their family with the birth of their second son, Axel Strahl. In 2021, their family grew once again with the birth of their daughter, Adelaide Ruth.
The Grown Ups actress and her partner, filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, share four children together: Pearl, Lucille, Jack and Minnie.

The actress recently appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared that her kids have taken after the rest of their generation and begun using different phrases.

“I live in a house full of teenagers now. I’m not one of the teenagers. They’re the other people that live there,” joked Rudolph. “But they use the word aesthetic in an improper way. They have now taken words and made them new words, which is not a thing.”
“I couldn’t agree with you more. It drives me nuts. And then they make fun of us for using proper punctuation and grammar in our text messages,” added Kimmel.
“Yeah, they make fun of me! They’re like, ‘Oh. Mama wrote that. There’s an exclamation point.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah. It’s called punctuation, punk,” said the mom of four.
The two joked about different phrases their kids say, with Rudolph admitting that there’s one she does actually use.
“And I’ll be honest, sometimes I’ll say ‘It’s giving,’ but I’m sorry, 6-7 is just, it’s nonsense,” said Rudolph.
“My kids think it’s delightful that I was born in 1967 because it’s like I was born for this little thing that they do to drive us crazy all the time,” added Kimmel.
“It makes them so excited,” said Rudolph in an incredulous tone.
