Brian Schottenheimer drops a game-changing announcement ahead of Cowboys’ showdown with the Broncos that fans can’t ignore.QQ

The Dallas Cowboys rebounded from a 30-27 upset to the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 with a dominant 44-22 home win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

Quarterback Dak Prescott completed 21 of 30 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver CeeDee lamb tallied 110 yards and a touchdown on five catches (eight targets).

His teammate George Pickens also totaled 82 receiving yards on four receptions (six targets), while running back Javonte Williams went for 119 rushing yards and one TD on 19 carries (6.1 yards per carry).

What’s most impressive about the victory was that Dallas entered the game with several key injuries, absences that could soon be behind them with the team’s latest update.

On Monday, coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Dallas has opened 21‑day practice windows for LB DeMarvion Overshown, C Cooper Beebe and rookie CB Shavon Revel.

Schottenheimer also noted that while CB Trevon Diggs is still in concussion protocol, he has officially met with team medical, signaling that he could return to action sSchottenheimer was hired as the Cowboys head coach last January after being brought on as a consultant in 2022 and spending the past few seasons as the team’s offensive coordinator.

The hire came with expectations that his play-calling and rapport with Prescott would sustain a high-octaine offense that just a few months later welcomed Pickens; a former second round WR who posted 1,141 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 63 receptions in 2023.

Sunday’s win showed that the plan is working; Prescott threw three TDs, Lamb exploded in his first game back from injury and Pickens delivered multiple big gains.

While the offense seems to be firing on all cylinders, the Cowboys defense ranks among the NFL’s weaker units (dead last in passing yards allowed — 260.3 per game (third-last in opponent scoring) — 29.4 points allowed per game). Injuries to core depth players like Overshown, Revel and Diggs have only amplified the problem.

Opening practice windows signals that Dallas could turn things around on the defensive side of the field, which could not come at a better time given that the team will face the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers in the weeks to come; all playoff-caliber football teams.
