A.J. Harris is exactly what the Packers need after trading their next two first-round picks.
The Green Bay Packers haven’t invested a pick in a cornerback before the seventh-round since taking Erick Stokes all the way back in 2021. Next year, the team doesn’t have a first-round pick after trading for edge defender Micah Parsons. So, it could make sense to spend its resources in the defensive back room and solve a big issue.
A.J. Harris to the Packers in 2-round mock
Ryan Roberts and Joe DeLeone made a two-round mock draft for A to Z Sports, and Roberts projected the Packers to finally address the cornerback position. He sent A.J. Harris, from Penn State, to Green Bay with the 56th overall pick.

This is what Ryan Roberts has to say about Harris:
“Harris began his career at Georgia before transferring to Penn State prior to the 2024 college football season. At 6-1 and 190 pounds, Harris is an incredibly physical cornerback who excels in press man coverage. That physicality translates to his ability to disrupt the catch point and as a tackler. Harris also has good zone instincts, and has seen reps in the slot as well, so he is a versatile defensive back. The biggest hang up with Harris is going to be his long speed, which is very average. That’s why getting his hands on you early in reps is so important for Harris. Packers’ cornerback room
The Packers have an obvious need at cornerback. So far this season, only three players at the position had defensive snaps — Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, and Nate Hobbs, who’s injured and has hardly justified the contract Green Bay gave him in free agency.
The backups are Kamal Hadden and converted wide receiver Bo Melton, who have only had special teams snaps. The practice squad still has undrafted rookie Tyron Herring.
This year, the Packers had drafted Micah Robinson in the seventh round, but he spent part of the season on the practice squad before being signed by the Tennessee Titans. Last year’s seventh-round pick Kalen King isn’t around anymore either, and is now a part of the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.
With the playing style Roberts mentioned, A.J. Harris could be a real difference-maker for the Packers early on — and with the ideal defensive fit, especially if coordinator Jeff Hafley stays around for an extra year.
