Willie Nelson just scored a brand-new record at 91 — and the real question now is whether he’s actually accelerating when everyone expected decline. ML

Most people aren’t working anymore at age 91. But country music icon Willie Nelson is still releasing new albums at that age — and they’re still landing big success.
Nelson’s new album, The Border, ranks No. 50 on this week’s Top Country Albums chart. The Border marks Nelson’s 114th album to appear on the Top Country Albums tally. Of those 114, 53 made the Top 10, and 18 hit No. 1.
Willie Nelson performs at the Farm Aid music festival at the Ruoff Music Center on Sept. 23, 2023, in Noblesville, Indiana.

While The Border adds another historic milestone to Nelson’s career, this particular album is not necessarily one of his biggest. What it does do is extend his record as the artist with the most albums ever to reach the Top Country Albums chart.

His newest album has also become one of the bestselling country albums in the U.S. this week. According to Luminate, the album sold more than 4,600 copies.
According to Billboard, The Border is Nelson’s latest chart record. Even at age 91, the Grammy-winning legend is not only still charting albums on Top Country Albums — he’s still outperforming many other country singers.
