The Eagles’ latest roster shake-up hints at a hidden weapon in the secondary just in time for their showdown with the Lions.QQ

The Eagles’ secondary could be on tap for a major boost at the perfect time.

The Philadelphia Eagles made two roster moves on Wednesday ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the Detroit Lions, and one of them could be a huge boost to their secondary when they need it most.
The team officially placed cornerback Jaire Alexander on the reserve/retired list after he announced he would be stepping away from the game for his mental and physical health.
But the better part of their moves is that the Eagles activated cornerback Jakorian Bennett from Injured Reserve.
Bennett landed on the Injured Reserve list with a pectoral injury back in Week 3. He’s been watching his team’s ups and downs from the sidelines since then, and it’s been far from fun for him.
“That was probably the toughest part,” Bennett said two weeks ago after returning to practice. “I got traded for a reason, to help the team win, to be a part of that. For me to just watch, that was really tough. You watch the game, you kind of visualize yourself making plays and doing whatever to help the team win. I’m competitive, I’m a team player and I’m just trying to go out there and help the guys.”
Eagles’ cornerback No. 2 situation has been a mess all season long
The Eagles have struggled to find a consistent No. 2 CB since the offseason.
Neither Adoree Jackson nor Kelee Ringo has been consistent or reliable, which has caused some issues, despite the team’s wins.
Philly was hoping their trade for Alexander could fix that problem, considering Bennett wasn’t ready to make his return just yet, but obviously that wasn’t the case.
But now that he’s officially activated, he could be the hero that the Eagles’ secondary needs as the playoffs inch closer and closer.
The Eagles acquired Bennett from the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of the season. He played in the team’s first three games before being placed on injured reserve. Bennett racked up six tackles and a pass defensed in those appearances.
