Patrick Mahomes drops a rare postgame message after the Broncos loss—and it reveals a side of him fans almost never see.QQ

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs understand the position they are in.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t play his best ball against the Denver Broncos, and neither did anyone else, really. After the loss on Sunday, he offered solace to the situation with a powerful message that we don’t often hear from Mahomes.
“Obviously, it’s going to be tough to get back in the division race, but at the end of the day, the goal is to get into the playoffs and try to make a run at it. We have to learn from this one as much as possible. We’re kind of at that point where we have to find a way just to win football games, and we have to keep moving forward. It sucks, don’t get me wrong,” Mahomes told reporters after the game.

“You have to feel that, but you have to be able to kind of use that energy to push it into the next week and into the rest of the season. Obviously, we’ve been losing these close games recently, but we’ve played some good football in spurts. It’s just about being more consistent. Until we go out there and do it, all you can do is keep saying you have to keep practicing, and getting better and better, and push yourself to go out there and do it on gameday.”
Mahomes is not used to losing the way Kansas City is losing
Mahomes has played 122 regular-season games in his NFL career, winning 94 of them, losing just 28. Mahomes has played in 21 playoff games, with 17 wins there. So, it’s safe to say that he’s not the most familiar guy with the feeling of losing. He’s felt it a few times in the worst ways possible, but he’s never felt consistent losing, not like he has this season.
5-5 is the worst ten-game start to a season in Mahomes’ career, and after losing an AFC West matchup to the Denver Broncos, the Chiefs look to be a team that will be fighting for their playoff hopes. Mahomes has never not made the playoffs; heck, he’s never not made the AFC Championship, so this kind of losing is a bit new.
