Parker McCollum Gets Candid About George Strait, His New Music Era, and the Viral Car Listing Everyone’s Still Talking About. ML

Parker McCollum called into The Bobby Bones Show studio after a whirlwind year.

With Thanksgiving coming up, Bobby kicked things off by asking the country star the classic holiday question: “What are you doing for Thanksgiving?” Parker didn’t miss a beat: eating and watching Texas football. Simple as that. And even though he didn’t go to college, he admits he does quietly pull for one Texas team over the other, he just refuses to say which one.

But the conversation quickly shifted to something that has been blowing up online: Parker’s infamous Hellcat. Recently, his social media was flooded with people tagging him in videos of a car dealership advertising “Parker McCollum’s Hellcat,” the same one that appeared in one of his music videos. Parker explained that yes, it was his car… but he’d already sold it privately, along with another car, in one deal. What he didn’t expect was the buyer using his name to hype the listing all over the internet. He joked that he’ll “never, ever, ever personally sell a vehicle” again, mostly because he didn’t love how big of a story it became. To him, they were just cars taking up space in his garage, not some kind of celebrity flex. He even considered commenting and claiming the seller was full of it, just to shut it down.

From there, Parker and Bobby talked about what made 2025 such a monumental year for him. It was his first full year touring as a dad, and he admitted that balancing life on the road with fatherhood added a layer of reflection he hadn’t experienced before. He spent time at the end of the tour looking back through his journal, asking himself if he was proud of the way he navigated it all. The answer was yes. It was a huge year professionally too: another sold-out Red Rocks show, another sold-out Rodeo Houston, and countless other milestones. But one moment that stood out the most had nothing to do with a stage, it was playing a dream golf course in Georgia with his dad and brother. “God’s been good to me,” he said. The conversation shifted to what it’s like playing shows with the King himself, George Strait. Parker says they’re closer now than ever, though he keeps his distance out of respect. He doesn’t ask questions, doesn’t ask for pictures, and mostly just observes how George handles the chaos around him. Watching grown adults lose their minds in front of George, he says, reminds him of being around someone like Matthew McConaughey, people just melt. But Parker admires how normal and humble George is after decades at the top.

Then came New Year’s Eve plans. Parker will be ringing in the new year on stage at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, a city he credits with helping launch his career. He admitted he once missed the countdown by two minutes because he didn’t hear the cue in his ears, so this year, he tried his best to avoid being on stage at midnight, although he’ll probably still end up playing until a few minutes past.

They wrapped up talking about his single, “What Kinda Man,” a song he originally wrote back in 2022. The first verse and chorus came out in one freestyle moment, and he held onto it for years before finally finishing it during a co-write. Even his wife teased him that it was about time he released a song about love going right, since so many of his songs come from heartbreak or mistakes. When his team needed a new radio single, the upbeat tempo made it the obvious choice. Before signing off, Bobby teased Parker again about the car situation, joking that Parker must be so rich he doesn’t even notice when someone sells his old car for $100,000. Parker laughed but insisted the whole thing was just a misunderstanding and that he truly did not expect a simple private sale to turn into internet chaos.
