Kings of Leon Just Released a Surprise EP With Zach Bryan, and It’s Already Making Waves. ML

Nashville rock band Kings of Leon released a surprise new project, EP #2, last week, marking their first new music since their 2024 album. The four-track collection channels the raw energy of the band’s early work. The release follows a high-profile collaboration with country star Zach Bryan. Caleb Followill described the recording sessions with Bryan as fast-paced and hands-on, reflecting a shift from traditional rock production cycles. Fans can now stream EP #2 via Love Tap Records.

Kings of Leon’s Latest EP

EP #2 includes four new songs showcasing the band’s signature rock sound. This release comes shortly after their collaboration with Zach Bryan, where they co-recorded Bryan’s song “Bowery” and their own track “We’re Onto Something.” The Nashville band emphasized a quick and immediate creative workflow, capturing spontaneity over polish. EP #2 is released independently through the band’s Love Tap Records label.

Inside the Studio

Caleb Followill recounted the recording process with Zach Bryan: “He was like, ‘Next weekend, New York, I want you guys there, we’re recording it!’” He added that the approach reminded him of old-school hip-hop, emphasizing immediacy and fan insight into the creative process. Bryan’s fast release strategy for “Bowery” aimed to launch the track within a week of recording, surprising Followill but motivating the band to adapt.

New Direction and Cross-Genre Appeal

The collaboration with Zach Bryan signals a potential shift in Kings of Leon’s recording approach. By embracing faster, less-polished sessions, the band allows fans to experience the artistic journey more directly. The EP also highlights a successful cross-genre partnership between rock and modern country, broadening their audience. These creative strategies may influence future releases and collaborations.

Tours and Upcoming Performances

Kings of Leon are scheduled to perform two New Year’s Eve concerts in Las Vegas. Fans can expect live renditions of songs from EP #2 as well as collaborations with Zach Bryan. The band has not yet announced plans for additional recordings but has hinted at continuing their experimental and fast-paced studio methods.
