Kelsea Ballerini Breaks Her Silence on Life After Chase Stokes — and Her Remark About “Lexapro” Has Fans Nodding. ML

Kelsea Ballerini is putting her mental health first—and she’s letting fans in on her journey.
Just one month after splitting from Chase Stokes, the 32-year-old singer gave fans a peek into how she’s been navigating life post-breakup. Sharing a series of Instagram photos on October 28, Kelsea showcased everything from stage moments with fans to cozy downtime at home, making it clear that self-care is front and center.

The carousel included a sweet onstage fan interaction, pumpkin decorating with friends for spooky season, a mirror selfie sporting a face mask, a fun picnic with her dog Dibs in the park, and a relaxed nap on a white couch. Captioning the post, Kelsea wrote: “Brought to you by hot dogs, porch painting, bed by 9pm, friendship, parks, Kenny Chesney, and lexapro.”
For context, Lexapro is a prescription anti-depressant used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), according to Cleveland Clinic. While Kelsea hasn’t specifically addressed a diagnosis of depression or anxiety, she has long been candid about therapy helping her through struggles, including an eating disorder as a teen and coping with PTSD after witnessing a school shooting at age 14.
“It’s been a game changer,” she told People in April. “There is still a stigma around talking about certain things, and the way that you take that stigma away is you create conversation.”
Although Kelsea is openly sharing her mental health journey, she has kept her breakup from Stokes relatively private. The couple, who dated for nearly three years, parted ways in September 2025. Shortly after the news broke, Kelsea addressed the speculation on TikTok, posting a video with Ariana Grande’s “Shut Up” and captioning it: “CC: speculators, ‘sources’, and hidden cameras outside the hair salon. Let us be. please.”

The pair initially sparked dating rumors in January 2023 after Stokes shared a loved-up snap of them at the Georgia vs. TCU game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
After teasing their relationship in interviews, they went public with their relationship in April 2023 while walking the red carpet at the CMT Awards.
