How the Packers’ Super Bowl Hopes Defied Logic After That Crushing Loss to the Panthers.QQ

Packers QB Jordan Love is supposed to win a Super Bowl at age 27, and NFL oddsmakers seem to like his chances.

Despite taking an ugly 16-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday—and a home loss at that—the Green Bay Packers sit at 5-2-1 at the midway point of this 2025 NFL regular season, which is just good enough to have them sitting atop the NFC North. It’s not by much, of course, as both the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears are 5-3, with the Minnesota Vikings not far behind at 4-4.
Now, in theory, the Packers could and probably should be at least 7-1 at this point, as they blew a 10-point lead in their Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns and a 13-point lead in their Week 4 tie with the Dallas Cowboys.
On the flip side, however, they also needed a late touchdown from Josh Jacobs in their Week 7 win over the Arizona Cardinals and a monster second half to take down Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8. So, perhaps they’re exactly where they’re supposed to be.
Where the Packers hope to be in roughly three months, of course, is hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at Levi’s Stadium. What a joy it would be for Cheeseheads to win a title at the home of the San Francisco 49ers, right? And destiny says this is supposed to happen, as Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers all won championships at age 27, which is the birthday Jordan Love just celebrated this past Sunday.
