George Strait just dropped a 2026 tease so bold that Texas fans are reading it like a coded promise — “incoming for the Lone Star State.” ML
Get ready, Texas.
It looks like The King is going to be doing a show in his home state in 2026…
George Strait has been doing summer stadium tours over the last several years, and while he doesn’t stay on the road year-round like he used to, those select stadium shows always sell out and it’s impressive that he continues to be able to do that into his 70’s.
He’s timeless to me, and just a couple weeks ago, he announced a show in Death Valley, home of the Clemson Tigers in Clemson, South Carolina at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. It’s a one night only, in-the-round concert that features to incredible opening acts in Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores… but it sounds like he has another show on the books for next year.
Just a few minutes ago, Strait shared a post on Instagram teasing a Texas concert with the caption:
“An announcement incoming for the Lone Star State.”
So yeah, I would guess that he’s definitely going to be holding a concert in his home state next year, the only question is where exactly it will take place. My first guess is that it could be in Lubbock, Texas, which is approximately 425 miles from Strait’s hometown of Pearsall, Texas. He was born in Poteet, Texas, and raised on a family ranch in nearby Pearsall, Texas, and the poster shows a road with a mile marker that is “425 miles” to the Lone Star State.
It could really be anywhere, though, and it sounds like we’ll know the details very, very soon.
In 2024, George Strat broke the record for the largest single ticketed concert in U.S. history, which he set at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field with an attendance of 110,905 people on June 15th. In September of this year, though, Zach Bryan broke the record with his show at Michigan Stadium, which had an attendance of 112,408.
I know The King’s fellow Texans will be thrilled about whatever this announcement ends up being, and who knows… maybe he’ll even reclaim that impressive attendance record:
In addition to the Clemson show in 2026, Strait is going to be one of the honorees at the 47th Annual Kennedy Center Honors this December, which recognizes his lifetime of contributions to American culture through the performing arts.
Located in Washington, D.C., The Kennedy Center is a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, and notable country acts who have been honored over the years include legends like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, George Jones and many more. George Strait is a perfect addition to that list, and I’m sure some beloved country artists will also be in attendance to pay tribute to one of country music’s most beloved artists.
The 2025 Kennedy Center Honors will take place in December and air on CBS.
And I’m not sure if he will announce any other show dates for next year, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see at least one or two others added to the list over the next several months. I saw Strait a couple years ago in Charlotte, and it’s still one of my favorite concerts I’ve ever seen, so if you have the chance or have had Strait on your bucket list for a while, don’t miss out on this one. You won’t regret it, and that’s a promise.
