Gayle King breaks her silence on CBS exit rumors — and her response says it all.NH

Gayle King says talk that she’s being pushed out of “CBS Mornings” is news to her.
The veteran anchor told TMZ on Friday that network executives have assured her she’s doing “a great job” and remains “well-liked” at CBS. King said she loves her job and plans to keep showing up for work.
“I have no idea” if “CBS Mornings” will make changes when her contract expires in May, King told the news site, insisting she hasn’t heard anything to suggest she’s on the way out.

Her comments came after Variety reported that King could step down next year to take another role within the network.
CBS News quickly denied that, saying in a Thursday statement that “there have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026.”

The network called her “a truly valued part of CBS” and said it looks forward to “engaging with her about the future.”
King, 70, has co-hosted “CBS Mornings” since 2012 and is one of the network’s highest-profile journalists.

She recently conducted several marquee interviews, most notably with convicted sex trafficker R. Kelly, and continues to play a leading role in CBS News’ morning coverage.
King, a longtime friend of Oprah Winfrey’s, renewed her deal a year ago and was expected to stay in the anchor chair through the 2026 midterm elections.
CBS did not comment on whether any internal discussions about programming changes are underway.
