Emma Thompson urges America to consider Stephen Colbert for president as her outrage over Trump reaches a boiling point.NH

Emma Thompson, who once claimed she turned down a date with Donald Trump, opted for a bold outfit for her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in more ways than one.

The 66-year-old British actress was spotted out and about in New York City as she geared up for an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s late-night CBS show.

CBS announced in July that the show would be ending in May 2026 and it seems the Nanny McPhee star had a new career suggestion for the long-time chat show host, 61.

As she entered the studios, Emma looked trendy as ever in gray metallic wide-leg pants, which she paired with a white T-shirt with the words “Colbert for president” written on the front in bold capital letters.

She ensured nobody missed her message by adding an attention-grabbing, bright red, floor-length coat to her look, which had a statement bird brooch attached to the collar.

At one point, Emma opened her coat to show off her T-shirt as she posed for pictures outside the studio.

To complete her look, the Love Actually star wore a pair of white and silver sneakers, which complemented her look perfectly. She also accessorized with some brown oversized sunglasses and a pair of earrings.

Emma showed off her ageless complexion under a soft glam consisting of blushed cheeks and a rose matte lip. Her short gray hair was swept back into a quiff as she strutted her stuff down the sidewalk, as paps snapped away.

During her appearance on the show, Emma made another stance known when she dished her verdict on AI. The actress lashed out at the technology, blasting it as an “intense irritation” amid her writing process.

She clarified why, adding, “Because I write longhand on a pad. Old script, actually. Because I believe that there’s a connection between the brain and the hand.”

As the conversation went on, Emma continued to struggle to hide her frustration with AI, especially regarding the frequent suggestions for her written work.

“When I’ve written something, I will put it into a word document. And, recently, the word document is constantly saying, ‘Would you like me to rewrite that for you?'” she continued.

“And so, I just end up going, ‘I don’t need you to f–king rewrite what I’ve just written. Will you f–k off? Just f–k off.’ I’m so annoyed,” the star went on.

It comes after it was announced that Stephen’s show would be axed from CBS next year. The Late Show was not canceled due to poor performance but for what Paramount and CBS called “purely financial” reasons, though some observers have raised concerns about potential political motivations.

The decision was met with some controversy and speculation, especially given the host’s outspoken criticism of President Trump and the Writers Guild of America’s call for an investigation into the cancellation.

When Colbert’s show was canceled, Trump celebrated by writing on Truth Social, “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired.”
