Dolly captioned the photos: “The holidays are all about coming together in the kitchen, sharing a meal, and making memories with the people you love, just like my sister Rachel and I always have. ? Plan your festive feast with our cookbook #GoodLookinCookin!”

Dolly and Rachel are two of twelve children born to Robert and Avie Lee Parton, seven of whom are still living. This includes the eldest, Willadeene Parton, as well as Coy, Robert, Stella, Cassie, and Freida. 

Dolly has often talked about growing up as the fourth of twelve kids in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. She describes sleeping in conditions where there were usually “three or four” kids to a bed, and how growing up around so many different personalities helped her get along with anyone. 

“It was crowded!” Parton told The Guardian. “With that many brothers and sisters, there was plenty of teasing and fighting, but we were all in it together.”

Dolly Parton Adresses Recent Health Scares

Dolly Parton is often cited for her resilience. However, in recent months, the singer has been absent from several scheduled appearances, raising concern among fans. In September, Parton not only postponed her Vegas residency but also missed a planned Dollywood event. 

In October, she shared a video on

” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram emphasizing that she wasn’t “dead yet.” She explained that, after her husband, Carl Dean’s, death in March, she’d let her health go to the wayside. “I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of,” the 79-year-old shared. 

“When I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that.’ It’s nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt [Medical Center].”
