Chiefs catch a huge break — Colts’ defensive anchor ruled out just before Week 12 clash.QQ

We don’t root for injuries but this is good news for the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye in Week 10. They’ll then play the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 11 and will return home to Arrowhead Stadium for a Week 12 matchup against the 7-2 Indianapolis Colts.
No one expected this to be a marquee matchup for the Chiefs when the schedule first came out but the Colts have been a surprisingly good team this year and they’re going to be a tough opponent for Kansas City in a few weeks. The good news is that the Colts will be shorthanded defensively in that game, as star defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is headed to IR and will therefore miss the Colts’ game against K.C.
Colts won’t have DeForest Buckner when they play Chiefs in Week 12
No one roots for injuries but this is a massive win for the Chiefs, as Buckner is a pretty impressive player. He has four sacks in nine games and has always just been an incredible player on the defensive side of the ball. One less guy capable of getting after Patrick Mahomes in what’s going to be a huge game is definitely a huge advantage for Kansas City.
By the time this game rolls around, the Chiefs will either be 6-4 or 5-5 so this Colts game will be enormous for them. If they lose to Denver coming out of their bye week, they’ll be sitting at .500 and really can’t afford anymore losses if they want to be a playoff team. They’ll get to play the Colts at home and now Indy won’t have one of their best defensive players.
In a season where the wins haven’t been as plentiful as they have in seasons past, they should take this small victory and hope it propels them to a much-needed win in Week 12.
