Brooks & Dunn have just broke the record for most Country Music Association Award wins of all time!
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the legendary duo took home the CMA Award for Duo of the Year for the 16th time. This win brings their all-time total to 20 — breaking the record for most-ever wins at the awards show.

The record-breaking win comes just one year after they finally broke their tie with Vince Gill for the most CMA Awards. However, 2024’s crown was short lived as Chris Stapleton ended up tying them with 19.
This year, Stapleton was nominated in three categories, but did not take home any awards — meaning Brooks & Dunn now have the sole title of most wins of all-time.
After accepting their win, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn reflected on what the honor meant to them after over 30 years in country music.

“I know Kix and I have been around for a long time and Leanne [Morgan] just tripped a little trigger when she said she was postmenopausal, I think we are too,” Dunn began. “I’m a little emotional right now. Every night at these sold out shows, y’all, it’s surreal to us. People come up and Kix will go, ‘How many of you are first time Brooks & Dunn fans at the show?’ and 80% of the audience are raising their hands. So, we’ll take this and try to make you proud, okay?”
Brooks continued, “I heard earlier tonight, ‘Y’all ever get sick of this?’ Oh, hell no, man. This is too good. Thank you very much. ”

Brooks & Dunn have not released new music since 2007 with Cowboy Town, but have released two “Reboot” albums in 2019 and 2024 featuring re-recorded versions of their past hits.
In an interview with Billboard in May, the duo teased possibly recording some new material.
“We’re kicking along. We’re working on it, we’re pushing that row. We’ve got a label that we had a really great meeting with,” Brooks said at the time. “They can’t make us make a record, but they would love to see us do it. They don’t want to put out a record that’s not a great record.”
Dunn echoed his bandmates sentiment, stating, “I still think we have the juice to be able to sell a new one. I just want to put one more through the goal posts.”
