There has been discussion of a few different options for the Blue Jays bullpen for 2026 as the team is apparently looking at moving Jeff Hoffman out of the closer role moving forward.
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Blue Jays met with closer Edwin Diaz at the GM meetings in Las Vegas this week.

This would be a very interesting move for the Blue Jays but Diaz has mentioned that there is still a chance that he returns to the Mets.

Apparently, Diaz has been stating that he is looking for a deal worth around $102 million across 5 years which would pay him an average salary of $20.4 million per season.
Diaz is regarded as one of if not the best closer in baseball which is why he can commend such a massive contract.
In 2025, Diaz finished with a 1.63 ERA in 66.1 innings pitched to go along with 28 saves in 62 games and a 6-3 record.
