Jimmy Fallon recently brought back Thank You Notes after it was gone for months
On Oct. 23, 2025, the YouTube channel for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon uploaded the then-latest edition of the show’s Thank You Notes segment. For most of Fallon’s tenure hosting The Tonight Show, a “Thank You Notes” segment airing would have been unremarkable, as it was a staple of the talk show. However, in this case, it was very noteworthy since the typically recurring segment had been gone since March 20, 2025.
There are two main reasons why the Thank You Notes segment being gone from The Tonight Show for so many months is very noteworthy. The first of those reasons is the fact that the segment has long been a popular part of the show. The second, and much more noteworthy reason, is because of the significant history of Fallon’s Thank You Notes segment.
When Jimmy Fallon was hosting Late Night with Jimmy Fallon between 2009 and 2014, it was then that he introduced the Thank You Notes segment. Clearly, Fallon’s team felt that the segment’s format was entertaining enough that they brought it with him when he was promoted to The Tonight Show’s host. Since Fallon began hosting NBC’s most legendary talk show, he continued to push the recurring segment to the forefront.
As a result, The Tonight Show’s regular viewers knew to expect most Friday night episodes to feature Thank You Notes. It is shocking that The Tonight Show fell short of those expectations for many months.
