Right before the New York Giants game, Green Bay Packers fans received news they didn’t want. Third-round rookie Savion Williams, who had been listed as questionable due to a foot injury, was spotted in a walking boot arriving at MetLife Stadium, according to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. However, it wasn’t that big of an issue after all. Both rookies Williams and first-rounder Matthew Golden are officially active and will play against the Giants.

Falcons GM Terry Fontenot has the HOTTEST SEAT in the entire NFL

Savion Williams has been limited in practice with a foot injury. But he has a small offensive role, and that hasn’t been affected much by it — he also executed his role as a kickoff returner. Matthew Golden suffered a shoulder injury against the Carolina Panthers and missed the Eagles game. After missing two practices last week, he returned this week on a limited basis and will now get back to the lineup.

The only inactive wide receiver is Malik Heath, who was ruled out on Saturday as a coach’s decision — likely due to disciplinary reasons. Converted to cornerback in training camp, Bo Melton can also have another game with snaps on offense if needed.

Kicking situation

Battling with a right quad injury for several weeks, and struggling trying to play through it, kicker Brandon McManus is officially out against the Giants.

The veteran practiced all week and wasn’t even listed on the final injury report on Friday. However, he popped up late on the report on Saturday and was listed as doubtful to play — the Packers haven’t activated a player listed as doubtful since 2021, so it was already an obvious indication that McManus wouldn’t be available.

Without him, Lucas Havrisik gets back into the lineup. The 26-year-old kicker has played against the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals, converting all of his 10 kicks during the previous McManus absence — including a franchise-record 61-yard field goal.

Lukas Van Ness is not ready yet

Edge defender Lukas Van Ness will miss his fifth consecutive game due to a foot injury he suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals. The edge defender returned to practice on Thursday and is closer to being ready, but he’s not there yet.

Without Van Ness, the edge rotation has Micah Parsons, Rashan Gary, Kingsley Enagbare, Arron Mosby, and rookie Barryn Sorrell. Brenton Cox Jr. is still on injured reserve.
