Jelly Roll shocked fans when he debuted a clean-shaven look for the first time in over 10 years — and no one is more shocked than his 17-year-old daughter Bailee Ann.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, the country star debuted his unrecognizable transformation on YouTube. The musician made the decision to shave off his mustache and beard after he lost more than 200 pounds.
“One of the things I realized is I don’t know what I look like. I’ve had a beard to try to cover up my double chin, which I still am clearly going to have a double chin,” he said in the video. “The last time my face was shaved, I was fresh out of jail. I got a feeling I’m going to look like a Ninja Turtle, but I’m going to shave my f—king face and go surprise my family.”
After Jelly Roll made the transformation in the now-viral vlog, the first person he showed it to was Bailee — who has never seen her father without facial hair. Upon seeing her dad, the teenager begins laughing hysterically to the point of tears.
“Stay over there,” she said while laughing. “Oh my God, I’m going to cry. I don’t like this.”

“You look like a turtle. I don’t like this. Oh my God. I don’t know if I’m laughing or if this is…” she continued.
The video then cut to Jelly Roll outside at his Tennessee farm.
“Oh, what’s up, y’all? By now, you have probably figured out that I look like a Ninja Turtle,” he said. “Um, yeah, this was crazy. You know, one of the reasons I even started growing a beard was cause I was so obese. It was just easier to cover up what was happening here, you know.”
Jelly Roll ended the vlog by expressing gratitude for his three Grammy nominations this year. He’s nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Brandon Lake, Best Contemporary Country Album for his album Beautifully Broken, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Amen” with Shaboozey.
