He just wrapped things up with a final show in Los Angeles, and he shared a new post on Instagram on November 14 to commemorate the occasion.

He captioned the photo with:

Lukas Nelson and Willie Nelson Just Made History

Nominations for this year’s Grammy awards were announced on November 7, and everyone was surprised when both Willie Nelson and Lukas Nelson were nominated in the same category: Best Traditional Country Album.

Willie is nominated for “Oh What a Beautiful World,” and Lukas is nominated for “American Romance.”

This is the first time a father and son are nominated in the Best Traditional Country Album category, and the second time in Grammy history a father and son are nominated in the same category in general.

In 1998, Julio Iglesias and father Enrique Iglesias were nominated for Best Latin Pop Album.

Whether or not one of the Nelsons takes home the Grammy remains to be seen, but they’re both clearly very strong contenders.

Nelson also recently blew fans away with an amazing cover of Neil Young‘s “Unknown Legend,” which he performed with artist Sierra Ferrell.

“American Romance” might be Lukas’ debut album, but it’s obvious his career is just getting started. Given how incredible this first album is, we can only imagine how many beautiful songs from him will grace country music going forward.

His dad must be so unbelievably proud and excited, just like the rest of his fans are.
