The Kansas City Chiefs can’t seem to win when it comes to the offensive line this season.

Heading into the Week 11 game against the Denver Broncos, there were already questions surrounding rookie left tackle Josh Simmons, who recently rejoined the team after a four-game absence due to personal family reasons.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid was noncommittal throughout the week about whether Simmons would immediately regain his starting role. Now, they might have little choice as their most crucial depth piece has been ruled questionable to play on Sunday.

Chiefs OL Jaylon Moore is a late addition to the injury report due to an illness

Jaylon Moore, who filled in for Simmons at left tackle over the past four games, has been added to the injury report just hours ahead of kickoff in Denver due to an illness. Remember, Moore battled an illness during the final practice leading up to the Week 9 game against the Buffalo Bills.

It’s unclear whether Moore is still fighting the same thing that impacted him in Week 9, but he wasn’t listed on the injury report this week. The timing, along with the lack of a practice squad elevation at offensive tackle, suggests this is new.

  • Snaps: 294
  • Sacks: 3
  • Pressures: 12

It’s also unclear if Moore was intended as the starter or a backup for Sunday afternoon’s AFC West showdown with the Broncos. His questionable status doesn’t mean he won’t be available to play, but it certainly raises questions about his effectiveness if he were to start or needed to come into the game as a swing tackle. No matter what, he won’t be 100% for the game, which is a concern against a talented pass-rushing attack like the one that Denver has.

Right now, Wanya Morris is the only other offensive tackle on the 53-man roster who could fill that role for Kansas City.
