Jelly Roll recently concluded his Down Under 2025 Tour run of shows in Australia and New Zealand, where he brought along Drew Baldridge as an opening act for some of the stops on the leg. Of those gigs, the pair entertained fans with a rendition of Garth Brooks’ signature ‘90s smash “Friends in Low Places.”
But one stop proved even more of a treat when Jelly Roll and Baldrige decided to hand out wads of cash to the audience members. It all happened on Thursday, Nov. 6, evening during the “Son of a Sinner” singer’s concert at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, Australia, which also included supporting guests Shaboozey and Busby Marou.
Jelly Roll Wanted to Know if His Young Fans Knew ‘Friends in Low Places’

A video shared on Baldridge’s Instagram page shows the heartwarming gesture in action as the Antioch, Tenn., native, on stage, waves around the dollar bills before revealing plans to give the money to kids in the front row of the audience. There was only one catch, however, Jelly Roll made a game out of the sweet moment, choosing one of his band mates to judge between who would end up with the money, one person or several children. And, it all depended on whether or not the youngsters in the crowd knew the Brooks hit from his No Fences album.
“I happen to have a couple thousand dollars of Australian money right here,” Jelly Roll explains in a separate video of the moment, shared by one fan on TikTok.
Then, directing Baldridge on where to give out the cash, he says, “… .if Jack’s right, you’ve gotta hand him these two thousand dollars. If Jack’s wrong, I want you to jump out here and give away these two thousand dollars to some kids right here in the front row.”
Before exiting the stage, Jelly Roll ushered his guitarist to strike up a chord, which just so happened to be the opening licks to “Friends in Low Places.” After a massive round of applause, it was clear who the winner of the challenge was — the kids.
“One of the most giving humans on the planet,” Baldridge captioned alongside the video on his page.
The Moment Turned Into a Life Changing Experience for Some Fans
“Still trying to wrap my heart around what happened last night 💜,” another fan, who appeared to have attended the concert, wrote on their TikTok account. “To witness my grandson — my first grandchild — at just 3 years old, attending his second big concert in his short little lifetime, was already a blessing beyond words. But to see him receive $100 cash personally from Jelly Roll himself, handed to him by Drew Baldridge… that was a moment we’ll never forget. 🙌🎶.”

“And the sweetest part? As Drew handed him the money, my little man looked up with the biggest smile and said, “How are ya?” 🥹💙,” the caption continued. “The crowd around us just melted — it was such a pure, genuine moment that captured the joy of the night perfectly….”
Jelly Roll has just a couple of shows remaining for 2025 stateside now that he’s returned from his overseas run. They include the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City on November 15 and Audacy Presents: Jelly Roll Live at the Chelsea in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 31.
