Reid is the ultimate expert in this area.

The Denver Broncos are off to a 8-2 start in 2025, tied for the best record in the AFC.

Most of the credit for that is going toward their defense, which leads the NFL in sacks with 46 and ranks third overall. The Broncos’ offense has been pretty average overall, led by a solid rushing attack. However, it’s passing game has left a lot to be desired.

Quarterback Bo Nix has a solid stat line, throwing for 2,126 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season. On the flip side, he is tied for the third most interceptions thrown with eight, and is completing just 60 percent of his passes. He has also been one of the worst QBs in the league when throwing downfield (H/T Joe Rowles).

Chiefs HC Andy Reid isn’t taking Bo Nix lightly

Despite Nix’s struggles, Reid had nothing but praise for the Broncos second-year QB.

“He’s picking up what Sean’s (Broncos HC Sean Payton) asking him to do, and then executing and doing a good job of that,” Reid said of Nix. “That’s the primary responsibility of the quarterback. You’re given a scheme, and you got to become a master of it and make everybody around you better. He’s done a nice job with it.”

Reid indicated that he wouldn’t make a big deal over Nix’s struggles, because it is normal for QBs to regress a bit during their second year when defenses have tape on them.

“They kind of all go through a little bit of that, but he’s also won games, which ends up being the most important thing,” Reid continued about Nix. “You see that around the league. Teams have an opportunity to study, and they got to up their game and continue to grow. They grow for a few years, and then they either make it or they don’t make it at that point. To be able to sustain it for years is quite a tribute to these guys, but he’s a young guy that’s continuing to see some different curve balls.”

Nix may be in a rut, but he has playmaking ability. He has been at the center of criticism this week, so he’ll be looking for a bounce back performance. If the Chiefs can’t get pressure on him, which they have struggled to do against QBs this season, Nix could make them pay.
