The Green Bay Packers play on “Monday Night Football” against the Philadelphia Eagles, so it was hard for Packers fans to know what to look for and what to conclude after the Sunday slate of games. That’s what we are here for.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left the Chicago Bears game with a concussion, and the Bears had enough time to go ahead and win the game on Sunday. That matters for the Packers because they face the Giants next week at MetLife Stadium, and players are not always cleared from the concussion protocol in only one week.

If Dart can’t play on Sunday, Russell Wilson would likely start at quarterback for the Giants — the other option is fellow veteran Jameis Winston. The Giants are already without wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo, both of whom suffered serious injuries and are out for the season.
Packers’ volatility
The Packers didn’t play, but that wasn’t necessary to see how volatile this team has been this season. They beat the Detroit Lions, who have looked excellent, and lost to the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers, who looked bad. A week after beating Green Bay, the Panthers lost to Tyler Shough’s New Orleans Saints.
It’s hard to understand because it’s a team capable of making great plays, like it also did versus the Washington Commanders and in the second half versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bills lay multiple eggs as well
Not that it matters that much, but the Packers are not the only team doing absurdly inconsistent things out there. A week after beating the Kansas City Chiefs with a Super Bowl-caliber performance, the Buffalo Bills got destroyed by the Miami Dolphins.
Josh Allen looked very mortal, as the score didn’t allow the offense to utilize running back James Cook, and the receiving options were extremely limited, especially after tight end Dalton Kincaid left the game with a hamstring injury.
Now, we’re about to see how much consistency truly matters down the stretch.
Rest of the NFC North
The NFC North is highly competitive, but the Packers remain the division leaders with a 5-2-1 record. However, they need to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football,” or they go down to third place, behind the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, both with a 6-3 record — even though the Bears are likely overachieving based on their performances.
The Minnesota Vikings appear to be the weakest team in the NFC North, with a 4-5 record and a lack of direction at quarterback — J.J. McCarthy isn’t necessarily a bad option, but the team’s lack of explosiveness and frequent mistakes are real factors.
