Now, this is what they call a “rookie mistake.”

Jaydon Blue, a 21-year-old rookie on the Dallas Cowboys, sacrificed comfort for style when he slipped on his custom Louis Vuitton cleats for practice, a fashion-forward faux pas that ultimately caused a self-inflicted obstacle he had to tackle.

Earlier in the month, the running back — who was selected 149th overall by the Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft — was called out by the team’s head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, who shared an update on the player’s cleat chaos.

“A little questionable decision,” Schottenheimer told press on Friday, Oct. 3. “He went out there with some cool new cleats. Louis Vuitton Nikes. But they give you blisters. And so about halfway through practice, I saw him laying on the side.”

“I thought, ‘What the hell happened to Blue?’ ‘Oh, Coach, I’m fine, I have blisters.’ I was like, ‘Oh, shocker. Look at your cool shoes you got’,” he continued.https://www.instagram.com/p/DPUuNm7ifh3/embed/captioned/?cr=1&v=12

Blue swapped out his designer kicks for regular cleats for practice the next day.

“That’s part of what you deal with in young players,” the head coach said. “And quickly he changed his cleats and it’s amazing the blisters weren’t as bad.”

The first-year player shared a photo of himself wearing the designer shoes on Instagram. They’re blue with the iconic Louis Vuitton motif in white printed all over the cleats.

“They say it get greater later pay the toll… Ball n put that shxt on bol bol,” he captioned the post shared on Oct. 2.

Blue made his regular season debut with the Cowboys against the New York Jets in Week 5 of the 2025-26 NFL season.

“Very excited,” the rookie said ahead of taking the field for the first time. “I’ve waited my time, I’ve stayed patient. I always was told to trust the process and I knew eventually if I was to stay consistent and work hard that my time would come.”

“It was a part of the plan,” he continued. “I’m just excited that I finally get to go out there and showcase my skills.”

The Cowboys defeated the Jets 37-22 on Oct. 5.
