Don Lemon’s Comment About Megyn Kelly Just Crossed a Line Even His Fans Won’t Defend.NH

Don Lemon has landed in hot water once again after making harsh comments about Megyn Kelly’s looks during his new podcast.
The former CNN anchor, who often speaks out in support of the LGBTQ community, shocked many by saying Kelly “looks trans” and “chopped.”
The clip quickly went viral, and even his longtime fans are struggling to defend him, calling the remarks cruel, hypocritical, and beneath someone who claims to stand for inclusivity.

The backlash began after Lemon made offensive comments while discussing “MAGA women” on “Clip Farmers.”
When one of his co-hosts asked if Kelly was “chopped,” a slang for ugly, Lemon replied, “I think she looks trans.”
The 59-year-old went on to say that the journalist “looks clockable,” a term often used to suggest someone could be identified as transgender.
Lemon didn’t stop there. He said Kelly was “too skinny” and accused her of wearing “a lot of hair pieces and makeup.”
His co-hosts quickly ended the segment, saying, “Let’s end on that note.”
Lemon Faces Accusations Of Hypocrisy From Fans and Critics
In no time, the clip spread rapidly across social media, gaining millions of views.
Viewers from both political sides condemned the comments.
They called his remarks deeply hypocritical, especially given his past advocacy for LGBTQ rights.
“For a man who praises trans people, Don Lemon sure feels comfortable using ‘trans’ as an insult,” one user wrote on X.
Another commented, “The Left is using ‘trans’ as an insult now?” while a third fan shared, “Hypocrisy at its finest. When it’s convenient, principles fly out the window.”
Lemon, who came out publicly in 2011, has long described himself as a champion for the LGBTQ community.
He once gave a passionate speech at the 2023 Son Awards, where he condemned laws targeting trans and nonbinary individuals, saying, “Nearly half of those bills target our transgender and nonbinary siblings.”
He also criticized book bans and defended transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney during the Bud Light controversy, asking on-air, “So what if someone who is transgender drinks Bud Light? How does that affect you?”
Don Lemon’s History Of Controversial Remarks Resurfaces
This isn’t the first time Lemon has faced backlash over his comments.
The former CNN host was fired in 2023 after several colleagues accused him of sexist behavior and making disparaging remarks about women.
His most infamous on-air moment came when he said then–GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley, then 51, was “past her prime.”
When his co-hosts pushed back, Lemon doubled down, saying, “Google it. Everybody at home, when is a woman in her prime? It says 20s, 30s and 40s.”
After his firing, he shared his disappointment on social media, saying he was “stunned” and that CNN management had not informed him directly.
CNN’s chairman at the time, Chris Licht, confirmed Lemon’s exit, thanking him for 17 years at the network.
Since then, Lemon has launched “The Don Lemon Show” and his podcast “Clip Farmers,” both of which have attracted attention, often for controversial reasons like this one.
Lemon And Kelly’s Feud Takes Another Turn
The latest controversy isn’t the first clash between Don Lemon and Megyn Kelly.
Earlier this month, Lemon told Kelly to “get the f-ck out of here” after she commented on his husband, Tim Malone.
The media personality had criticized Lemon for blaming political violence on white men, pointing out that his spouse is white.
Lemon fired back, saying, “The greatest threat of political violence in America today is white men radicalized to the right.”
He also referenced Kelly’s own history of controversy, including her 2019 firing from NBC over remarks about blackface.
Kelly has since bounced back with “The Megyn Kelly Show,” one of the top-rated news commentary podcasts in the country.
Don Lemon Slams Kelly Over Her Comments About Joy Reid
Lemon’s attack on Kelly came months after he blasted her for her public reaction to Joy Reid’s exit from MSNBC.
As The Blast reported in February, Kelly had posted that Reid was “the absolute worst person on television” after the network parted ways with her show.
In response, Lemon called the attorney a “troll” and a “racist,” pointing to her past controversial remarks about race and women.
On his YouTube show, he said, “So let me just say to Megyn Kelly, in my 30-some years as a journalist, and my 50-some years as a person of color: Go f-ck yourself.”
The journalist argued that Kelly’s commentary about Reid was part of a broader pattern of negativity and insult-driven rhetoric, especially targeting women and minorities.
